He was led to believe at some point through an Evangelical church that 2 Kings 6:28-29 was proof that God condones us eating people. Yep, you read that right, all of us present had dropped jaws. Now I’m not dinging this gentleman at all. He is currently in the process of trying to unlearn and learn new things from the Bible and about God. He’s doing exactly what he’s supposed to be doing, which is studying and asking a lot of questions.

I have dealt with intrusive thoughts since I was a child, it straight-up sucks. What's even more exhausting is the judgment I’ve gotten from people over the years, and to be completely honest — it’s one thing to get ignorant comments from a nonbeliever, but it’s a completely different story getting ignorant comments of any kind from a Christian when you too are a Christian.

Sometimes, doing the right thing means stopping mid-argument and saying, “You’re right.” It means giving up the need to win. Or walking across the room when you’d rather stay in your little safe corner.

Nagging in the back of my head was this feeling that I answered wrong, that I needed to rethink my response, and why I responded that way. And you betcha I rethought my response, and it was an intense moment of realization, faith, and repentance.

Why can’t it be both? Maybe I’m wrong, but here are my thoughts. First, we are not puppets, we have free will to choose what we want.
